Changing Mindsets

Changing Mindsets

Orphans are often associated with powerlessness, so they tend to be regarded as mere recipients of mercy and donations. The general public also has the opinion that orphaned children are the targets of compassionate acts. This kind of mindset underplays an important characteristic that every human being possesses, including orphans, that is “All humans have potential”.

It is thanks to this potential that humans are able to grow along with the efforts they put in in order to further develop their potential. This is the message we would like to spread: That is is time to change our mindset of viewing orphans as helpless or targets of pity and move towards a realization that orphans have a great potential that can be realized by empowering them with business skills and rewarding them for their action.

For four months, YPU students from all over Indonesia went through 3 models of learning:
Awareness: An awareness that every human, including orphans, owns a wealth within themselves, that is the potential that God has blessed every individual with.
Academic: By studying and acquiring various knowledge, every human is able to manage their lives and easily develop their potential so that they may live a fulfilled life.
Practical Skills: That the motivation that comes from awareness and knowledge can only be useful if real action is taken by carrying out entrepreneurial activities.

We are thankful that these three components are progressing smoothly step by step to achieve Yayasan Prima Unggul’s vision of turning 10,000 orphans into entrepreneurs. We await concrete actions from you and hope you will be involved in strengthening our humanitarian work.
